Is viabtc.com down?

I cannot get to viabtc.com from my miner, laptop or mobile?

Is it gone for good? or did they forget to renew DNS?

Their domain records are empty, but mining, mobile app, and automated payments are working for me. Best is to wait. I asked them about this on twitter but no reply yet. I hope they will be up in the next 48 hours.

My workaround involved changing the 'hosts' file on my router. You need to have a router running ddwrt for something like that to work.

You could change the DNS servers your router points to.

Have a look at the bottom of the link below, it’s basically saying China has pulled the plug on several mining pools in the last 24 hours, VIABTC included! The telegram group admin says it will be back up and running later today, for now I’m leaving my rigs mining and watching out for announcements. It sure seems legit. I was able to login. All my rigs are there; correct hashrate; correct asset amount.

I got an email from viabtc.com saying that viabtc.net was their backup site so I'm sure it's legit.

Just a quick update from the TG group admins regarding this incase anyone’s not seen it…..

“If you can not access the ( viabtc.com ) or App, please use the altenative domain name ( viabtc.net )

I’ve personally logged in successfully with the ViaBTC.net site and all my funds are there. BTC & LTC rigs are all showing and mining although there was a bit of downtime for BTC. I’ve managed to withdraw funds ok so if you need to pull funds that’s an option for you.

I can’t verify this next message as it wasn’t from an admin but seems legit…….

“If your device is connected, there is no need to worry, the extraction will be done, but if it is disconnected, it will not be connected until the 6th of Azar, tomorrow, Server B will most likelyTransferred from China to Hong Kong”

I’ll post again if I hear any more ??

no joy. www.viabtc.com and the server/service I really need ltc.viabtc.com:3333 is still not reachable.

try port 25 or 443 for your miner

https://www.viabtc.com takes me right to their main page. I just logged in to check my account and everything seems fine.

I still cannot reach them. Do you know what DNS you are using?

Basically the name will not resolve, as if the DNS records are not longer available.

If you can, can you tell what IP address www.viabtc.com and ltc.viabtc.com are at?

I will try putting them in my static `hosts` file.

This site can’t be reached

Check if there is a typo in www.viabtc.com.

When I ping the webserver, this is the address I get:

www.viabtc.com.cdn.cloudflare.net [104.16.78.62]

Maybe it's a cloudflare issue?

When I ping the miner address, I get:

ltc.viabtc.com [47.252.50.124]

Thank you for you help.

I put this address and host name in my routers `hosts` files and all my miners connected and started.

Not sure why I cannot resolve these anymore using network dns.

I am using the Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Not sure why Google DNS would block them.

So my workaround was to put the name into the hosts file on my ddwrt open source router that all my L3+s uses.

This is probably unique to me as I know Linux and was able to get my router to serve the DNS name.

If you don't have that level of control on your router I am not sure of how you can work around it.

You could try putting a different set of DNS servers into your router.

The key is getting whatever manages DNS services on your network to resolve the name to an IP address.

ViaBTC, F2Pool, Poolin and also Binance pool, are "apparenty" being DNS poisoned since yesterday.

Fortunately, the IP addresses have not change, so the pools are reachable for mining and if you started a couple of days ago, you won't have problem as long as you keep mining continously. A workaround for start or restart mining now, is to get the pool's IP addresses from another trustable source than DNS.

The big problem for now is that is will not possible to access their websites properly to check balances, withdraw, etc.
